Did You Know.....(that Wisconsin has had 18 tornadoes in 2007)?

Through October 25nd, Wisconsin has experienced 18 documented tornadoes.  Recently, a weak tornado was verified in Price County on October 8th.  The last time Wisconsin had an October tornado was in 1992 when four occurred.    Normally, Wisconsin has a total of 21 for the entire year.  In 2006 Wisconsin had 13 tornadoes, and in 2005 it had 62 tornadoes (27 on August 18th).

4.     Jun 1st - Lafayette County, south of Shullsburg           EF0

6.     Jun 2nd - Washington County, north of Richfield         EF0

7.     Jun 3rd -  Washington County, east of Jackson           EF1

8.     Jun 3rd - Shawano County, southeast of Shawano    EF0

9.     Jun 3rd - Grant County, 2SE Potosi        EF0

10.   Jun 3rd - Grant County, Potosi                 EF0

12.   Jun 7th - Marathon County, east of Mosinee to south of Hatley     EF2

The Milwaukee/Sullivan weather office has warning responsibility in
South-central and southeast wisconsin for 20 counties.

In this area...there were 5 tornadoes in 2007. This area averaged
7.4 tornadoes per year for the 30-year period of 1971-2000 in which
there were 222 tornadoes.

The greatest number of tornadoes in a year for south-central and
southeast wisconsin was 19 in 2005.  The least number of tornadoes
was 2 in the years of 1976...1990... 1995...and 1999.
