Madison Breaks Their December Snowfall Record

Madison:

As of 6 pm on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, Madison reported 36.1 inches of snow for the month of December. This breaks the old record of 35.0 inches measured during the month of December 2000.  If Madison has another inch for this month, the city will tie the all time monthly record of 37.0 inches measured in February 1994.  With chances of snow Christmas night and this Saturday, it is possible December 2008 will be Madison's snowiest month ever on record!  Madison is 27 inches above the average for December up to the 24th, and is 9.7 inches higher than last year at this time.

Milwaukee:

As of 6 pm on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, Milwaukee reported 34.5 inches of snow for the month of December.  This is still a long way away from the record set in December 2000 of 49.5 inches.  However, this total is still 26.1 inches above the average for December up to the 24th and is 9.4 inches higher than last year at this time.
