THIS DECEMBER...QUITE A BIT OF SNOW FELL ON SOUTHERN WISCONSIN AS
MANY STORM SYSTEMS PASSED THROUGH THE REGION. AS A RESULT...MANY
LOCATIONS IN THE NWS MILWAUKEE/SULLIVAN COUNTY WARNING AREA MEASURED
ANYWHERE FROM 35 TO 50 INCHES OF SNOW IN THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2008.
AMAZINGLY...THESE SNOWFALL TOTALS ARE CLOSE TO WHAT SOUTHERN
WISCONSIN AVERAGES FOR AN ENTIRE WINTER.
SOME OF THE SNOWIER LOCATIONS WERE FOUND IN DODGE...WASHINGTON...
OZAUKEE...SHEBOYGAN...AND FOND DU LAC COUNTIES. THE HIGHEST SNOWFALL
TOTAL THAT WE HAVE LOGGED SO FAR BELONGS TO A CO-OP OBSERVING SITE
4 MILES SOUTH OF SHEBOYGAN /SHEBOYGAN COUNTY/ WHERE 58.2 INCHES
OF SNOW FELL.
DANE COUNTY AIRPORT IN MADISON /KMSN/ RECORDED AN ALL TIME RECORD
FOR THE SNOWIEST DECEMBER WITH 40.4 INCHES OF SNOW.
ADDITIONALLY...THE 40.4 INCHES OF SNOW BREAKS THE ALL TIME SNOWIEST
MONTH RECORD WHICH WAS PREVIOUSLY SET BACK IN FEBRUARY OF 1994.
