Summary of Cold Wave

This week's cold wave did not set any records within the 20 counties of the Milwaukee/Sullivan County Warning Area (CWA), but it was one of the coldest periods in the past 10 years.  Below is a list of the coldest observed readings from Friday morning Jan 16 2009

Low Temperatures Across Wisconsin for the Week

The bitter cold air pushed into Wisconsin Monday night into Tuesday morning, January 13th, and stayed around into Friday morning, January 16th.  We took a quick look to find the lowest temperatures in Wisconsin from Tuesday through Friday morning, and here's what we found (if we become aware of any lower readings we'll update this story)...

Tuesday  Jan 13th         -35 at New Post - 10 NE Moose Lake, in Sawyer Co. 

Wednesday Jan 14th     -36 at Minong - 8 NW, in Washburn Co. (unofficial site)

Thursday Jan 15th        -37 at  New Post - 10 NE Moose Lake, in Sawyer Co.

Friday Jan 16th            -42 at  Necedah, in Juneau Co.  

 

High & Low Temperatures Across South-central and Southeast Wisconsin

In the 20 counties of South-central and Southeast Wisconsin that are serviced by the Milwaukee/Sullivan NWS office, we took a quick look to find ranges of maximum and minimum temperatures for Tursday through Friday morning, January 16th.  Below are the results...

Tuesday - Minimum temperatures ranged from -8 at LaValle-4N - Redstone Lk., to 15 at Milwaukee.  Maximum temperatures ranged from zero at LaValle-4N - Redstone Lk., to 19 in Janesville.

Wednesday - Minimum temperatures ranged from -17 in Markesan, Hustiford, and Holy Hill 2E, to zero at Milwaukee and the Kenosha Harbor.  Maximum temperatures ranged from +5 in Juneau to 13 in West Allis.

Thursday -  Minimum temperatures ranged from -24 in Sauk City to -10 at Sheboygan SW.  Maximum temperatures ranged from -8 at Monroe to +1 at Germantown, West Allis, and Milwaukee Mt. Mary College.

Friday -  Minimum temperatures ranged from -35 at Lone Rock to -11 at Sheboygan South.
