Today, April 27, 2009, is the 25th anniversary of the F4 tornado that started in the Wales area of Waukesha. The Wales tornado resulted in 1 fatalitiy and 14 injuries.

The Wales tornado damaged or destroyed 24 homes, leveled a barn, and uprooted hundreds of trees. A women was killed and her husband and son seriously injured when they were thown out of their mobile home which was leveled by the tornado.
It was one of 10 tornadoes to affect various parts of Wisconsin on that fatefull day of April 27, 1984. Two of the tornadoes were rated at F4, two at F3, two at F2, one at F1, and three at F0.

All in all, 34 tornadoes were documented in Wisconsin in 1984, Eleven occurred in April, fifteen in June, four in July, one in August, one in September, and two in October. The total of 34 tornadoes in 1984 makes that year the 8th busiest in Wisconsin. The 1984 Wisconsin tornadoes killed 12 people and injured 247.
