Weak Tornado in Iowa County June 18th

...RESULTS FROM STORM SURVEY IN IOWA COUNTY...

NOTE: ALL OF THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS REPORT SHOULD BE
CONSIDERED PRELIMINARY...AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE UPON FURTHER REVIEW.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS SURVEYED STORM DAMAGE IN
IOWA COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON. IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT A BRIEF
TORNADO SPUN UP ABOUT 5.3 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF HIGHLAND. THE
EXACT INTERSECTION WHERE THE DAMAGE WAS OBSERVED WAS HIGHWAY P AND
COUNCIL BLUFFS ROAD.

THE TORNADO BEGAN AT APPROXIMATELY 1127 PM...AND WAS ONLY ON THE
GROUND FOR A BRIEF TIME. THE PATH LENGTH WAS 0.2 MILES AND THE
MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH WAS ABOUT 75 TO 100 YARDS.

THE TORNADO DAMAGE HAS BEEN ASSIGNED A PRELIMINARY RATING OF EF-0
ON THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE. AN EF-0 RATING CORRESPONDS TO
ESTIMATED WIND SPEEDS OF 65 TO 85 MPH. MAINLY TREE DAMAGE WAS
OBSERVED IN THE AREA OF THE TORNADO SPIN UP.

A TORNADO WARNING WAS ISSUED FOR IOWA COUNTY AT 1110 PM CDT.
