                                Issued Sep 21st 2009 500 pm CDT  Updated Dec 28th 2009

Deadline for submission extended to January 15th 2010

The National Weather Service Office in Sullivan WI is currently accepting applications for Student Volunteers.  This is primarily for the summer of 2010, roughly the end of May through the end of August.  However, in some cases, the students also volunteer during the school year.  Hours vary, but are extremely flexible and are typically 1 day per week for 8 hours.   1-2 student volunteers will be selected.

This is ideal for college students in meteorology, hydrology, information technology, computer sciences, or electronics.  Freshman, Sophomores, or Juniors are welcome to apply.  You must be in student status during the summer of 2010 to be eligible.  Exceptional High School Students will also be considered.

You will be given opportunity to job shadow various positions at the office and work on weather related projects that will be mutually beneficial to both the student and the NWS.   Student projects often are published as a Top News of the Day article on our web page.

To apply, send your 1 page resume BY January 15th 2010 with at least 3 references via e-mail attachment to:

jeffrey.craven@noaa.gov

Include:  Education (GPA), Experience, Leadership, Teamwork, Technical Skills.  Please include current phone numbers and e-mails for your references.  Cover letters and supplemental material are optional.

If you are selected, you will be required to go through a full security clearance plus fingerprinting (at a cost of about $10 to the student).
