Satellite View Of Disappearing Snowpack

The Snowpack Has Melted

The 2 image animation below shows how much the snowpack melted over about a 6 to 9 day period. Although these images are 13 days apart, widespread cloudiness prevented a clear window showing how quickly the snow melted during the warm and wet period that hit the Upper Midwest beginning March 4th.  Most areas lost the snowcover completely between the 10th and 13th of March.

These images are high resolution MODIS images captured by our friends over at the Space Science and Engineering Center at UW Madison.
