June proved to be a wet month for southeastern and south-central Wisconsin, with the area averaging about 14 days of at least a trace of rainfall. Milwaukee and Madison on average note 10 days in June with at least a trace of rain. The above-normal precipitation days helped lead to areas in this section of the state recording above normal rainfall totals for the month. Milwaukee observed the 13th highest June total while Madison observed the 6th highest June total since 1871 with 6.93 and 8.38 inches respectively.

The picture below visually depicts rainfall totals across southeastern Wisconsin. Note the east-west band stretching from west of Madison up to Milwaukee. Multiple days saw thunderstorms progressing in a west to east fashion right along the I94 corridor, leaving the surrounding counties with less rainfall totals, yet still above normal.  The town of Watertown on the Jefferson/Dodge county line observed 4.22 inches in one day on June 23rd!

The chart below details selected areas across southeastern and south-central Wisconsin and the rainfall totals for the month of June. Once again, note the highest amounts across Waukesha and Jefferson counties. The sites are a mix of ASOS and CO-OP observations.
