For the second year in a row, the National Weather Service will be staffing an exhibition booth at this years Wisconsin State Fair.
The National Weather Service located near Sullivan Wisconsin in eastern Jefferson county will once again be sharing space with the Air Quality Division of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Our exhibition booth will be located in the south pavilion located in the DNR park on the state fairgrounds. The DNR park is located just west of the Wisconsin Exposition Center.
Come meet members of the National Weather Service, share a story, and get the latest weather forecast. We will demonstrate how to navigate our website and make use of its many features, including creating an hourly forecast of weather conditions for your location.
Our tornado simulation chamber will be running for the duration of the fair. We will also have an All-Hazards NOAA Weather Radio display for you to compare the different types of weather radios available. Plenty of brochures will be available including the Owlie Skywarn "Watch Out - Weather Ahead" coloring book and a cloud chart.
Have fun approximating hail size with our new hail display.
The National Weather Service will also be participating in this year's "Passport to Fun", a fun way for children to explore all that the DNR Park has to offer.
You can also learn about the relationship between the National Weather Service and the Wisconsin DNR Air Quality Division. We look forward to meeting you at this years fair.
