Record rainfall in July 2010

Milwaukee information

10.93 inches of rain fell in July 2010 at Milwaukee International Airport, shattering the old record of 7.66 inches set in July 1964. 

July 2010 will also go down as the 2nd wettest calendar month ever in Milwaukee.  The wettest month ever was June 2008 with over a foot of rain measured (12.27"). 

In addition, a new record for two month rainfall in June and July was set.  6.93 inches fell in June 2010 and 10.93 inches in July 2010, for a total of 17.86 inches combined.  This breaks the previous record of 15.47 inches in June and July of 2008. 

From January 1st to July 31st, there has been 26.87 inches of rain in Milwaukee.  This ranks 5th on the all time list for rainfall for the first 7 months of a calendar year.   The record is 31.93 inches set way back in 1876.

Madison Information

Although no records fell in Madison, it was still unusually wet.  7.98 inches of rain was measured at Madison Truax Field in July 2010.  This is 9th on the all time list for July in Madison.   The record wettest July is 10.93 inches in 1950.

The combination of rainfall for June and July 2010 was 16.36 inches (8.38" in June and 7.98" in July).  This was the 4th wettest June and July in Madison history.  The wettest was 17.17 inches in June and July 1950. 

From January 1st to July 31st, there has been 26.41 inches of rain in Madison.   This ranks 11th on the all time list for rainfall for the first 7 months of a calendar year.  The record is 33.46 inches set in 2008.
