Days with Maximum Temps 60 or higher in Milwaukee & Madison (Updated 11/15/10)

South-central and southeast Wisconsin have had three days with maximum temperatures of 60F or higher through Thursday, November 11th.  A quick look at our long-range computer mofel outpout suggests that it will be difficult to get that 60F air back into Wisconsin through the remainder of November.  It appears that temperatures will be below normal to near normal through the reaminder of November.   

So, how does the number of days with maximum temperatures of 60F or higher in November 2010 in MIlwaukee and Madison compare to previous years?

For the period of 1871-2010, Milwaukee averaged 2.8 days in November with maximum temperatures of 60F or higher.  For the period of 1869-2010, Madison averaged 2.5 days in November with maximum temperatures of 60F or higher.  For both cities, November, 1975 had the greatest number of days with maximum temperatures of 60F or higher in November.

We also took a quick look at the number of days in each calendar year that had maximum temperatures of 60F or higher in Milwaukee and Madison.  So far, through November 11th, the year of 2010 in Madison has had 202 days with maximum temperatures of 60F or higher.  The year of 1963 had 204 for Madison - the largest yearly total for that city.  For MIlwaukee, 2010 has had 182 days with maximum temperatures of 60F or higher, while the greatest yearly total of 187 occurred in 1938.  The results are in the the table below.
