Ice breaking up on Lake Michigan

Due to the cold temperatueres last week, the Ice on the West Shore of Lake Michigan thickened as seen on the Feb 9th MODIS polar orbiter image.

The image below was produced on Feb 10th.  Notice the expansion and thickening of the ice cover.

As seen on the Feb 14th image below, after the recent mild temperatues and brisk west winds much of the Ice that had formed on the west shore of  Lake Michigan has broken up.



In these images most clouds are white, while ice and snow are a blue/green color
