A typical hazy, hot June day in Wisconsin? Sort of. The haze that was around especially this morning was actually smoke from the huge Wallow Arizona fire, one of the largest in Arizona history. Although about 1300 miles from Milwaukee, the smoke from these large fires has been carried by winds into the Great Lakes area.
The first image below shows a high resolution image of the smoke plume Monday (June 6 2011) from Arizona into Iowa.
The second image below shows an image from early this Tuesday morning (June 7 2011) over the Great Lakes area, showing the Smoke/Haze over most of Wisconsin.
