Hot & Humid Today!
Heat that built across the Central Plains will "lean" into the western Great Lakes today on gusty south winds as low pressure passes to the northwest of Wisconsin. Isolated thunderstorms over southern Wisconsin on the leading edge of the hot and humid air mass will end by late this morning.
The dewpoint temperature, which is a measure of the amount of moisture in the air, will climb into the very sticky low to mid 70s. By Saturday, a weak cold front is expected to sweep through the state bringing some relief from heat.
Highs today are expected to be in the mid to upper 90s with a heat index ranging from 100 to 110...with locally higher values to 112. A heat advisory is in effect for from 12 noon to 9 pm tonight. Temperatures this warm can lead to a heightened risk of heat stress, especially for the very young, the elderly and those on certain medications.
Highs on Saturday should fall back into the mid to upper 80s.
