Strong Winds Expected Through Tonight

A rapidly strengthening area of low pressure will move into northern Lower Michigan this evening, and to Lake Huron later tonight. This potent low pressure system swept a strong cold front across southern Wisconsin earlier today. Very strong and gusty northwest winds are expected through tonight in the wake of the front. In addition, showers will move through the area, as a strong upper level disturbance moves through.

Winds are expected to increase even more over eastern Wisconsin early this evening, as the low pressure system strengthens over Lower Michigan. Winds of 25 to 40 mph are expected, with gusts of 50 to 60 mph. A High Wind Warning is in effect for southeast Wisconsin from 7 PM this evening through early Friday morning.

In addition, a Storm Warning is in effect for all of Lake Michigan for wind gusts up to 50 knots or greater.

Consider securing your loose outdoor items such as lawn furniture and garbage cans. These strong winds will also make driving high profile vehicles difficult. Remember fallen, wet leaves will cause slippery conditions.
