Snowfall Amounts from Wednesday

Strong low pressure brought abundant precipitation to Wisconsin Tuesday night and Wednesday. Rain changed over to snow from west to east on Wednesday, and brought the first widespread accumulating snowfall to the area. The greatest snow amounts were to the north and west of Madison. While many locations in this area saw 2"-4" of snow, some locations received 4"-6". At the Madison airport, 1.5" was reported. Areas east of Madison generally received an inch or so, with amounts tapering down to just a trace near Lake Michigan. Here is a map of snow totals for the early season event:
