Minor Earthquake In Far Northern Illinois Monday Evening (Updated 5:30 AM Tuesday)

A minor earthquake (magnitude 2.4) occurred at 9:54 PM CST in McHenry County, Illinois. The epicenter was located at latitude 42.340 degrees North, and longitude 88.243 degrees West, or about 10 miles south of Twin Lakes. A few reports of shaking were reported to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) across western Kenosha and eastern Walworth counties. Reports of shaking also occurred across far northern Illinois, closer to the epicenter. No damage was reported in Wisconsin. Earthquakes of this magnitude are weak and usually do not cause any damage.
