Today's mock tornado drill was conducted between 1 pm and 2 pm CDT.
The Milwaukee/Sullivan NWS Office received some telephone calls questioning why the drill was conducted during the rain.
We decided to go through with the mock tornado drill because it was advertised to occur between 1 pm and 2 pm as long as there wasn't a possibility of an actual Watch or Warning for tornadoes or severe thunderstorms somewhere in Wisconsin during the daytime today.
Yes, it was raining across parts of southern Wisconsin during the drill, and rain was expected. However, the weather situation over all of Wisconsin today was not conducive for severe weather.
