Beginning late Friday and continuing through Sunday, a strong low pressure system tracked from the Central Plains into northern Lower Michigan. Much of the Upper Midwest received some badly needed rainfall. Here in southern Wisconsin, the highest 3-day rainfall totals were in the northernmost portions of Green Lake, Marquette, Sheboygan, and Fond du Lac counties. North of a line from Lawrence to Ripon to Haven received 3.5 to near and over 4 inches of rain!

South of a line from the aforementioned counties above (their southern borders) to a line from Port Washington to Madison received 2.5 to around 3 inches of rain. The lowest 3-day totals were found down along the Wisconsin/Illinois border and in far southeast Wisconsin.  There, the 3-day totals ranged from 0.75 to 1.25 inches of rain in some areas. Notably, areas around Burlington received around three-quarters of an inch of rain.

The rainfall analysis below is for the 72-hour period of 10/12 8 AM - 10/15 8 AM for central and southern Wisconsin.  This analysis uses a combination of CO-OP observers, public agencies, other weather observers, and a local rainfall analysis background field.
