NOAA - January 2013: A Shroud of Cold Air Descends on the U.S.

NOAA's Environmental Visualization Laboratory generated a neat graphical animation of the arctic blast that affected the U.S. during the period of Saturday, January 19th into Thursday, January 24, 2013.

Below are PRELIMINARY LOCAL CLIMATOLOGICAL DATA for Milwaukee and Madison for the month of January through the 23rd.  Since the 20th southern Wisconsin has averaged roughly 5 to 20 degrees below normal!  Updated versions of these climatological summaries can be found here.
