Heat Advisory into this Evening

A Heat Advisory remains in effect from until 8pm for all of south central and southeast Wisconsin.  A heat advisory is issued when the heat index is forecast to be greater than or equal to 100 degrees for a single day, or 95 to 99 degrees for 4 consecutive days.  Highs are forecast in the lower to mid 90s today, with heat index values of 100 to 105.  Here are some reports of 100+ heat indices so far today.

Outlook for the Remainder of the Work Week:

A cold front will move south through the area tonight, bringing slightly cooler but still above normal temperatures for Wednesday into Friday. See the maps below for the expected highs across the area during the rest of the week:

Labor Day Weekend Outlook:

While there is more uncertainty with the forecast this weekend, highs are forecast to be in the 80s on Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures are forecast to drop back into the 70s by Labor Day, as cooler northerly winds kick in.  Average high temperatures are around 77 degrees during the beginning of September.  For Labor Day weather statistics, click here.
