Boiling Water tossed into Frigid Air

Here is a photograph of boiling water getting tossed into the frigid air at the National Weather Service office near Sullivan.  The air temperature was around -18 and the wind chill was around -47.

The air was so dry that the water instantly vaporizes into a cloud of steam.  You can see on the left side of the cloud where the water remains in liquid form immediately after being tossed into the air.
