After ending a streak of 16 above normal temperature months in a row at St. Cloud and the Twin Cities in October, November saw all three climate locations go right back to experiencing an above average temperature for the month. More concerning though was the other trend that continued in November, below normal precipitation. In fact for much of the area, the observed precipitation on the month was less than half of normal. This was the fourth below normal precipitation month in a row for the Twin Cities and St. Cloud, while it was the sixth month in a row for Eau Claire. As a result of the continued dryness, drought conditions continued to expand and worsen across Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
