Fall 2012 Climate Summary

One year after seeing one of the driest falls in MN history in 2011, 2012 followed right up on its heals with another near record dry season.  The fall of 2011 was the driest on record for the Twin Cities (1.36"), while the 2.23" for September-November of 2012 came in as the sixth driest fall of all time.  In St. Cloud, the 2.02" of liquid this fall was the fourth driest on record (0.61" in 1952 driest) and came in one spot higher than the 2.39" observed in 2011.  Temperatures for the season wound up slightly above normal across the area as a couple of runs of near record highs in mid September and again in mid November helped push the season as a whole into above normal territorry.
