Race for the Warmest Year MSP Tied Photo-Finish


The Annual Maximum Temperature for 2012 is the warmest on record.

The Annual Minmum Temperature for 2012 is the 2nd warmest on record.

 ...Note all of the climate data in this report will need to be Officially Certified by the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC)... 

Annual Climate Data For Minneapolis / St Paul, MN (Twin Cities) for the year is 2012.

For the Record 2012 has officially tied for the warmest Annual Mean Temperature of 50.8 with the year 1931...and that will not change.

But, since it was so close in the end, and the values are rounded to a tie; we want to know which year was defacto the warmest?

When we zoom in a little bit closer on the data set: It appears that 1931 was ever so slightly warmer...than 2012.

Below here is the Zoomed-in-data-set Chart.

Taking a look back at the available data set of Annual Minneapolis St Paul Temperature records from the Fort Snelling Military Records which began in Nov 1819, combined with other nearby Observations through the years 1820-1870...Then 1931 and 2012 really  stand out as the warmest years on record. Wow!

The year 1931 will stay the warmest, with 2012 the 2nd warmest.
