 Snowfall Records for the Month of May in the Twin Cities

On May 3rd, a total of 0.5" of snowfall was recorded at Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport.  This amount breaks the previous daily snowfall record for the Twin Cities , which was 0.2" on May 3rd 1954.  This is also the 8th highest daily snowfall total on record for the month of May in the Twin Cities.

To put this event into perspective, the last time measurable snow was recorded at Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport during the month of May was in 1991.  In addition, it has been 37 years since a half inch or more of snow has accumulated in May (last occurrence was May 2, 1976).
