March 2012 will be remembered as one of the warmest stretches of weather this early in the season. Temperatures across Upper Michigan were 30 to 40 degrees above average. Many locations even recorded temperatures in the low 80s on March 21st. 2014 was much different, with arctic air holding on across the Upper Great Lakes. In fact, high temperatures ended up lower than the daily minimum temperatures over the same period in 2012. The table below shows a comparison between observed highs in 2014 and the observed lows for the same days in 2012 at the NWS Marquette office.
