August 2008, Driest on Record.

With no rainfall observed on August 31st, the total precipitation for the month of August finishes up at 0.44 inches at the National Weather Service Office in Negaunee Township. Since this amount is well below the previous driest August on record of 0.56 inches in 1970, this year will go down as having the driest August on record.  Normal precipitation for August is 3.55 inches.
