New June Temperature Record Set at NWS Marquette

For the first time on record during the month of June, the National Weather Service Office in Negaunee Township recorded 3 days with a high temperature of 50 degrees or less. The three days that had high temperatures of 50 degrees or less were on June 1st (48), June 7th (50), and June 8th (46).

There are only three other years (2001, 1992, 1968) where the high temperature was 50 degrees or less twice during June. 2009 is the first year to have a June high temperature of 50 degrees or less since 2001. On average, a high temperature of 50 degrees or less during June occurs once every 2-3 years.

Through June 8th, the NWS Marquette is 9.9 degrees below normal for the month of June.

Note: Weather records for the National Weather Service in Negaunee Township date back to October 1961.
