Record Setting Rainfall at NWS Marquette Yesterday

A record daily rainfall of 1.64 inches was set yesterday, August 29, at the Marquette National Weather Service office located in Negaunee Township. This broke the old record of 0.93 inches, set in 1983.

The 1.64 inches of rain yesterday pushed the monthly total for August up to 4.82 inches, which is 1.49 inches above normal. In addition, the 4.82 inches of rain in August is over an inch above all of the rain received in June and July combined (3.72 inches).

Note: Weather records for the Marquette National Weather Service office in Negaunee Township date back to 1961.
