Quickly Dropping Temperatures Today, Heavy Lake Effect Snow West Tonight

Rapidly falling temperatures behind a cold front will result in potentially hazardous road conditions, as slushy snow or ponded water freezes and creates icy conditions. Watch for slippery roadways, slow down and allow extra space between you and your fellow drivers.  Plan extra time to get to your destination! As a reminder, driving too fast for conditions is the number one cause of traffic crashes during inclement winter weather.

Heavy lake effect snow will effect the Keweenaw Peninsula and far western Upper Michigan tonight and Friday, with accumulations as high as 10 inches possible. See our Winter Weather Monitoring page (below) for updated information.
