Freezing Temperatures Overnight - protect sensitive outdoor plants

After well over a week of continuous above freezing conditions, temperatures will be below freezing overnight. Expect temperatures to bottom out in the 20s. The warmest readings will be along the Great Lakes shorelines.

As a reminder, these subfreezing temperatures will still be 5 to 10 degrees above normal for this time of year.

If you have plants that are sensitive to the cold weather, bring them indoors or cover them at night. At 32 degrees, damage to most plants is minimal. However, plant cells may freeze at cooler temperatures, causing less hardy plants to die.
