It's That Time of Year Again: How to Submit Snowfall Reports!

It is that time of year again, where winter takes hold and the snow starts falling. How can you be of help to the NWS? We have developed an easy-to-use snowfall report webpage for you to let us know exactly how much snow you got. With limited radar coverage during snowfall events (due to terrain and below-the-radar-beam shallow snowfall), snowfall reports are useful for us. We also use these reports to evaluate how we have done on a forecast when all is said and done.

So where is this form? It's easy to find! Just go to our homepage:

Then, on the left hand side (the blue menu) under the Current Hazards headline: Click "Submit Report" (Circled in red below)

When you click "submit report," a form will pop up that looks like the one below. You will also notice, that we use this form for reporting severe weather (such as wind or hail) during the summer months. To submit a snowfall report, click "Snowfall"...put whether or not you estimated it or measured it, the time in which it fell (really important to us), and most important: where you are located!!

Additional information that is important to us, is your email address (or phone number). This way, if we have questions about your report, or need additional details we can contact you. If you have questions about submitting reports, or if you just want to call in your report, you can contact the NWS directly at 906-475-5212! We are here for you 24/7/365.
