Snowfall Totals for much of Upper Michigan

Winter Storm brought Significant Snow to much of the Upper Great Lakes

Heavy and wet snow spread across all of Upper Michigan Thursday Afternoon and continued through Friday Morning as strong low pressure moved across southern Lower Michigan. Much of Upper Michigan received 6-12 inches of snow, with some spots in north central Upper Michigan and the eastern U.P. seeing totals of 12-18 inches. In addition, wind gusts of 35-45 mph were common Thursday night and Friday morning, with a few spots in Marquette and Alger Counties seeing wind gusts greater than 50 mph. This created blizzard like conditions with snow drifts in open areas of 3 to 4 feet and treacherous travel conditions. Below is a preliminary snowfall accumulation map of the storm.
