A very warm and moist air mass will remain in place over the Upper
Great Lakes through at least Monday. High temperatures both days will
reach into the upper 80s and lower 90s...as heat index values soar
to 95 to 100 today and into the mid 90s on Monday. Low temperatures
tonight will only cool into the upper 60s to lower 70s.
The combination of very warm temperatures and high humidity will
combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
Anyone participating in strenuous outdoor activities...the elderly or
those in poor health will be most at risk for heat-related illnesses.
Remember to drink plenty of fluids...stay out of the sun or in an
air-conditioned room if possible...and check up on elderly relatives
and neighbors. Also...remember children...pets and farm animals
during the heat. Never leave children or pets in a vehicle for any
length of time.
