Snow reports: 11/22 - 11/24

The latest snowfall totals from the recent lake effect snow event are listed below, and a plot of the reports can be found here through the morning of 11/25. The unexpectedly small snowflake size limited snow totals for many locations. Most of eastern Upper Michigan came in at a snow-to-liquid-ratio (SLR) of about 13 inches of snow per 1 inch of water. This is very low for lake effect snow, which typically has at least 20 to 1 SLR's. The SLR remains one of the most difficult wintertime parameters to forecast as they can vary significantly over time and distance.
