*Repaired* Temperature Errors on the Houghton Memorial Airport Observation

Update (12/20/2013): NWS Technicians have repaired the faulty temperature sensor as of around 1:00 PM EST 12/20/2013. Temperature values now appear to be correct!

Original Problem: The temperature readings at the Houghton County Memorial Airport (KCMX) have been anomalously high over the past several days.  The extremely cold weather that has been entrenched in the Upper Peninsula over the past couple of weeks is not only hard on people and pets, it is also very rough on weather sensing equipment.  In this case, the fan that vents the temperature sensing equipment has frozen up, which causes the temperatures to be exaggerated.  We are working to correct this as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
