February 16th Snow Depth

The satellite image depicted below shows the swath of snow from the recent snowstorm that occurred on Friday, February 13th, 2009.  Again, the snow/no snow boundary shows up very well, extending from north central Nebraska through northeast Nebraska, into central Iowa.  The southern edge of the snow boundary extends from north central Kansas through northwest Missouri and southern Iowa.  The blue outline is the National Weather Service Omaha/Valley area of forecast responsibility.  The numbers plotted are the current snow depth as of 6 to 7 am on Monday morning, February 16th, 2009.  From 2 to 8 inches of snow occurred this past Friday, with 2 to 5 inches still remaining.  Note, a few high, thin cirrus clouds were moving through portions of Kansas and Missouri, as well as southern Minnesota and northwest Iowa.
