Blowing and Drifting Snow with Increasingly Colder Wind Chills

Strong northwest winds will cause considerable blowing and drifting snow with areas of low visibility this morning. There will also be some areas of falling snow, but additional accumulations should be half an inch or less.  Bitter cold wind chills from 15 below to 30 below zero will be common today. Wind chills should drop into the 30 below to 40 below zero range by late this afternoon or this evening, then these dangerous wind chills will continue through Friday morning.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa until Noon Today.  A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from Noon to 6 pm.  Then a Wind Chill Warning will be in effect from 6 pm today until Noon Friday. See our winter weather bulletin, and our hazardous weather outlook for the lastest information.
