Warm Nights Continue

If you've noticed that is has seemed quite warm every morning for a while, you are not mistaken.  Omaha has not dropped below 70 degrees since July 13th, 22 consecutive days through August 4th.  With it possibly not dropping below 70 before midnight Friday, the streak will likely extend to 23 days.  The 22 days is a record in the Omaha area, the previous record was July 5th through the 25th of 1923.

Lincoln and Norfolk have also remained warm and muggy at night, although both sites have fallen below 70 this month, with Norfok even experiencing a rather comfortable 61 on August 3rd.  However, even those sites saw record or near record streaks of warm minimum temperatures with Norfok setting a record streak of 20 days above 67 degrees (ending on August 2nd) with a 20 day streak of above 67 degrees in Lincoln (ending on July 24th) coming in as the 3rd longest such stretch there.

It does look like cooler nights are in store for the area next week with lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s forecast for much of the area.
