Snowfall on December 3rd: First Widespread Snow of the Season

The first significant and widespread snowfall of the year blanketed much of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.  The line between rain and snow lingered from just south of Lincoln to just south of Omaha and into Pottawattamie County, Iowa, for much of the day.  The highest snowfall amounts stretched from David City to Fremont to Onawa, where 5 to 8 inches of snow fell in a band that lingered for much of the day.  Meanwhile, most of southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa saw just a trace of snow that fell after dark as the storm was exiting.  Snowfall totals across the Omaha metro area ranged from around 3 to 6 inches, while the Lincoln area received 2 to 4 inches.
