Storm Total Snowfall Feb 3-4th

A major winter storm moved through the Plains Friday through Saturday, February 3rd and 4th.  Locally, a wide swath of 6 to 12 inches occurred.  The highest amount recorded in our area was 15.5 inches in David City, Nebraska, just southeast of Columbus.  Lincoln recorded an averege of 11 to 12 inches, while Omaha recorded an average of 9 to 10 inches.  New daily snowfall records were set in both Lincoln and Omaha, and this was the 4th largest 24 hour snowfall in Lincoln.  Much of the region that received the heavy snow also saw more snowfall in about 18 hours than we have the entire winter season.

Below is an objective analysis of 48 hour observed snowfall across the region, ending Sunday morning February 5th, 2012.
