THE DUAL POLARIZATION UPGRADE TO THE OMAHA/VALLEY NEBRASKA NATIONAL
WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR IS SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 11...2013.
ONCE INSTALLATION HAS BEGUN...THE DOPPLER RADAR WILL BE OUT OF
SERVICE UNTIL THE UPGRADE IS COMPLETE...THIS GENERALLY TAKES 6 TO
8 DAYS.

SINCE THE UPGRADE WILL CAUSE THE OMAHA/VALLEY DOPPLER RADAR TO BE
OUT OF SERVICE AND UNAVAILABLE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME...THE NWS
OFFICE IN OMAHA WILL USE SURROUNDING RADARS FOR COVERAGE. THESE
RADARS INCLUDE THOSE NEAR HASTINGS AND NORTH PLATTE
NEBRASKA...SIOUX FALLS SOUTH DAKOTA...DES MOINES IOWA...TOPEKA
KANSAS AND PLEASANT HILL MISSOURI.
