Update: Frost/freeze headlines done for season! Follow the fall freezes across the region

Update!  As of October 12, NWS Omaha/Valley will no longer issue frost advisories or freeze warnings for the rest of the cold season.  We'll pick these up again in the spring!

Fall is spreading across the Central United States!  The image below, updated daily, tracks the locations that have received their first freeze (32 degrees or colder) of the season.

Also, the map of the median first freeze date (32 degrees), based on the 1981-2010 period, is below.  The "median" is the date when half of the years had their first freeze earlier and half of the years had their first freeze later.  It is close to the "average" first freeze date, but not necessarily the same.
