The Growing Season Has Ended - Frost/Freeze Headlines Done for the Fall

The temperature has reached 32 degrees or colder at nearly every location in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.  We are also well past the median ("middle") first freeze date across the entire area. Therefore, frost advisories and freeze warnings will no longer be issued by the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley for the fall season.  This marks an end to the growing season for 2013.

The map below shows the date range that sites around the area fell below 32 degrees, updated daily.

First Freeze Date

Most of the area has not yet seen a hard freeze of 28 degrees or colder, though with the growing season coming to an end, a hard freeze would not do additional damage to vegetation.  Below is a map of locations that have had a hard freeze.
