Temperatures averaged near normal in Dec. with above normal precipitation

At both Paducah and Evansville, December temperatures averaged within one-half degree of normal. Precipitation averaged one to 1.5 inches above normal at both sites.

Streaks of below normal temperatures before Christmas were offset by record warmth late in the month. The record high of 74 degrees at Paducah on the 27th was just 3 degrees shy of the warmest high for any day of the month of December. The record high of 73 at Evansville was 4 degrees below the record for the month. Severe thunderstorms on the 27th brought sustained winds near 45 mph and peak gusts near 60 mph at both Paducah and Evansville.
