THE FOLLOWING IS THE DAMAGE ASSESSMENT FOR A TORNADO THAT
OCCURRED THURSDAY MAY 14TH 2009 IN SOUTHWEST INDIANA...IN
GIBSON COUNTY.

* EVENT DATE - THURSDAY MAY 14 2009

* EVENT TIME - APPROXIMATELY 325 AM TO 340 AM CDT

* EVENT TYPE - EF2 TORNADO

* EVENT LOCATION - FROM HAUBSTADT TO 2 MILES EAST OF BUCKSKIN

* PEAK WIND - 120 MPH

* AVERAGE PATH WIDTH - 125 YARDS

* PATH LENGTH - 10.5 MILES

* INJURIES - NONE

* FATALITIES - NONE

* DISCUSSION/DAMAGE...THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OCCURRED ON A
  FARM ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE HAUBSTADT RACEWAY. A 50 FT GRAIN
  BIN WAS MOVED OFF ITS FOUNDATION AND DESTROYED...SEVERAL LARGE
  MACHINERY BUILDINGS SUSTAINED PARTIAL LOSSES OF ROOFS AND
  WALLS...AND A RACE CAR FRAME ON BLOCKS WAS MOVED APPROXIMATELY
  100 FT. ELSEWHERE ALONG THE PATH...1 BARN LOST ITS ROOF...AND
  SEVERAL HOMES SUSTAINED ROOF DAMAGE.

 Harrisburg,IL damage and other damage around the region:

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms moved rapidly east at speeds from 45 to 50 mph. Several reports of wind damage and large hail were received. One of the hardest hit cities was Harrisburg, Illinois, a city that was affected by the major May 8 wind storm. A damage survey revealed the following:

* DISCUSSION/DAMAGE...NUMEROUS TREES UPROOTED AND NUMEROUS LARGE
BRANCHES DOWN...FALLING ON AND DAMAGING HOMES. PRESS BOX AT
LOCAL FOOTBALL FIELD BLOWN OUT OF STANDS. CONSTRUCTION TRAILER
BLOWN ON SIDE.
