A severe thunderstorm developed along a cold front as it passed through the Hopkinsville area of western Kentucky during the midday hours. The storm produced hail up to the size of baseballs as it moved northeast across Christian and Todd Counties. The core of the storm passed south and east of Hopkinsville. The Oak Grove and Pembroke communities were in the path of the storm.
