Isolated storms reached severe levels on Monday

In a very warm and unstable atmosphere, thunderstorms grew in both coverage and intensity Monday afternoon. A few of these storms produced large hail. Storm reports can be viewed here.

The potential exists for isolated severe storms each afternoon and evening through Thursday.

Below is a photo of mammatus clouds taken by Beau Dodson of McCracken County, KY Emergency Management. Mammatus clouds are high-level clouds that indicate strong but not necessarily severe thunderstorms in the area.
